Considering upgrading to a newer version of Windows? Wait a bit and think about whether you need it at this stage! Before you make the switch, consider all the benefits of the old and trusted Windows 10. This way, you will avoid possible misunderstandings and won’t regret your choice later!
When using any software, the key aspects are functionality, error minimization, usability, and interaction between the user and the computer.
Windows 10 was released way back in 2015, but it still demonstrates impressive stability and functionality. It has been announced that support for this operating system will end in 2025. We can’t help but think of such classic systems as Windows 7 or XP, which were also known for their reliability. This way, Windows 10 will remain relevant and practical for at least 5-7 years, if not more, just like other historical versions of Windows!
Consider the reasons to stay with Windows 10
- Minimal number of errors and bugs.
This is the main reason why you should refrain from upgrading to the new Windows 11! Each new release of Microsoft Windows requires at least 4-5 years for the operating system to become stable. It’s interesting that when Windows finally becomes reliable, Microsoft suddenly releases a new OS with a bunch of bugs and defects, and it all repeats in an endless cycle like a rake dance!
That being said, it will probably take at least another 2 years for Microsoft to fully improve Windows 11, which was released in 2021. However, as we all know, Windows 12 may already be available by then. According to some reports, this may happen even this year! We wrote about this in the previous article “What characteristics will be needed for Windows 12”
- Old equipment, hardware, and drivers.
If your computer is more than 6-7 years old, there is a possibility that the hardware or components will not be compatible with the new Windows 11 operating system. Manufacturers may refuse to release new drivers for this OS, especially if the hardware is already out of production and support for it is not planned for Windows 11.
This raises the question: why should we throw away serviceable equipment that can last longer? Before you fully upgrade to the new operating system, be sure to check the compatibility of your hardware and the availability of drivers for Windows 11.
- The speed of the interface and performance.
Windows 10 impresses with its performance and stability compared to Windows 11. The Windows 10 interface is very responsive, with the Explorer in particular working efficiently and reliably – something users can experience on a daily basis.
For example, if you use the same editors and versions of programs to process, edit, render, and output video, Windows 10 is more productive and will handle tasks faster than Windows 11. Even simple operations like working with archives or launching any program are faster on Windows 10.
- Stable and fast updates.
Windows 10 updates are impressive in their stability. Whereas in Windows 11, almost every update causes something to break or stop working. Of course, this will be corrected in the future, but it will be in the future.
As an example, a major update released in November 2023 (version 23H2) unfortunately led to problems, namely, a slowdown in the conductor. This is an important point because Windows 11 has already been redesigned and redrawn three times. Plus, other bugs were discovered.
Additionally, it’s noticeable that updates on Windows 10 download and install faster than Windows 11, adding to the positive experience of the update process. This may also be due to the size of the update itself.
- There is no connection to a Microsoft account.
Windows 10 doesn’t require you to be linked to a Microsoft account, unlike Windows 11. In this case, the usual installation of the operating system requires additional actions and processes.
When installing Windows 11, you will definitely need to bind to an account, it becomes necessary at almost all levels of functionality. This binding adds some inconvenience during installation and further work. Although it provides certain bonuses and advantages, it is not a fact that you will need them as a simple user.
In addition, Windows 11 has an increase in the number of advertising elements. And while in Windows 10 this can be turned off using the standard settings, in Windows 11 it turns out to be a more difficult task.
- Tracking, telemetry and heavy weight
The last important reason to stay on Windows 10 is the high level of surveillance, telemetry, and overall weight of the Windows 11 operating system. In Windows 7, there was practically no tracking, and in Windows 10 it appeared, but it could be turned off. However, in Windows 11, it becomes a system of constant surveillance plus ads are added to it, as we wrote above. Interestingly, a significant portion of the resources used by Windows 11 is dedicated to telemetry and user tracking.
In general, you shouldn’t be afraid of new things, but everything has its time. And the previous article “What characteristics will be needed for Windows 12” will tell you about it eloquently.
