What to play this fall? The most interesting releases of September.

The autumn season is traditionally rich in premieres, but September 2025 stands out against this background: the return of favorite franchises, the emergence of brand new projects, and, of course, horror games that fit the autumn atmosphere. In order not to get lost in all this colorfulness, TechnoVisor has collected the main video game releases with all the important details.

Hell is Us

Release date: the release has already taken place on September 4 on all the platforms listed below

Genre: action-adventure

Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC

Rogue Factor relies on exploration by instinct. In a world engulfed in war and the appearance of mysterious creatures, there is no map, compass, or quest markers – you will have to navigate by the landscape, sounds, and clues in the environment. The battles are live, with an emphasis on cold steel, namely swords, spears, and axes have their own unique rhythm. In general, the absence of a navigator makes the adventure truly personal, because it is you who finds paths, secrets, and detours, not just follows the directions.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: Order of Giants (DLC)

Release date: also took place on September 4

Genre: 1st person adventure shooter

Platforms: Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC

The first expansion brings Indy back to Rome, with underground catacombs, Roman puzzles, the cultic theme of the Nephilim, and echoes of imperial myths. The pace here is more relaxed than in the combat scenes of the base game, which gives more opportunities for archaeological puzzles and whip tricks.

Please note that you must also purchase the base version of the game to get this add-on. The DLC itself was launched on September 4 on all three platforms at once. However, if you have the Collector’s Edition, the DLC is already in your set.

Hollow Knight: Silksong

Date: held on September 4

Genre: platformer (coordination and reaction game)

Platforms: PS5/PS4, Xbox Series/One, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, PC

Hornet is finally heading to Pharloom, a world built like a vertical honeycomb where speed and accuracy, not cunning, play a major role. The heroine’s movements are much more dynamic, the boss fights are more nervous, and there are many more routes. The game encourages you to go by feel, testing the limits of your own skill. In addition, it has a fairly attractive price tag, and it is also available on Xbox Game Pass.

By the way, the initial hype was so great that Steam literally went down for a while due to the influx of people wanting to try the game.

Cronos: The New Dawn

Release date: September 5

Genre: survival horror

Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC

The new project from Bloober Team (developers of the famous Silent Hill 2) combines classic survival horror with science fiction. The plot takes place in two time lines: Poland in the 1980s and in the post-apocalyptic future, where the world is coming apart at the seams due to a mysterious disease. The game itself begins with the awakening of the Traveler ND-3576, an agent of the mysterious Collective, who is tasked with extracting the essences of people who died in a cataclysmic event through time cracks. These essences are no ordinary artifacts: they affect the heroine’s powers and the course of the story. Time manipulation is not just an element of the plot, but a part of the gameplay – all your actions in the past affect the future. The battles are very difficult, resources are limited, and enemies require precision, punishing you for every mistake. The game will definitely appeal to fans of Dead Space and Resident Evil, but at the same time, it provides a completely unique experience thanks to its carefully crafted atmosphere and eerie soundtrack.

A nice bonus is that the game is available in Ukrainian(with interface and subtitles translated).

Please note:

  • The game is economical with ammo and healing, so save ammo for armor-piercing enemies, and take out small fry in melee.
  • Explore the offshoots, because that’s often where the upgrade chips and notes that clarify the plot lie.
  • Better with headphones. Spatial sound is not for beauty, but for survival – it’s easy to detect danger behind the wall by creaks and whispers.
  • If you’re new to the genre, it’s best to start with the basic difficulty, otherwise the first hours may seem too ruthless.

Borderlands 4

Date: September 12

Genre: action-RPG, cooperative

Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC (and on Switch on October 3)

Mayhem is back, and this time it’s even bigger! In Borderlands 4, you’ll be traveling to the planet Kairos with four new Walt Hunters, where tons of weapon modifications await you. This installment will support crossplay, so you can easily assemble your squad for cooperative marathons, regardless of what platform your friends are playing on.

On PC, the game will be released simultaneously worldwide. The console versions (PS5/Xbox) will also launch on September 12, but the release on Switch 2 will be delayed until October 3.

Dying Light: The Beast

Date: September 19 (after a short postponement for additional polishing/refinement)

Genre: action/survival horror (+open world)

Platforms: PS5/PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X/S, PC

Techland has improved its signature mix of parkour and melee combat. Movement has become more realistic and precise, punches are heavier, and new tools, such as a throwing saw, turn fights into a literal “bloody ballet.”

Kyle Crane is back with a darker story and new bestial abilities. The story takes place in the world of Castor Woods, a valley that seems peaceful during the day but turns into a spooky place at night. This encourages you to explore the world and look for resources, as you plan routes during the day and fight for your life at night.

Silent Hill f

Release date: September 25

Genre: psychological survival horror

Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC

This time, the Silent Hill series takes a sharp turn, moving us from a gloomy American town to 1960s Japan. This change of scenery will bring new types of fear specific to Japanese culture. We will be introduced to the “flower” corporeal horror – a slow decomposition where creepy flowers grow from the body, and anxiety that grows even in silence. As a result, we have “beauty in horror”: creepy images that look almost exquisite, and a plot that clutches your throat not with screams, but with hopelessness.

The main character here is a schoolgirl named Hinako, who finds herself in the city of Ebisugaoka, shrouded in a mysterious fog. Instead of constant screamers, the video game builds tension through the atmosphere, scattered notes and symbols. Battles and puzzles are infrequent, allowing the anxiety to build steadily. Although there are weapons in the game, it still focuses more on melee combat, making each encounter much more tense.

A powerful team is working on the project – Ryukishi07 (by Higurashi) is responsible for the script, the music is again by the legendary Akira Yamaoka, and the development is led by NeoBards in collaboration with Konami.

Silent Hill f will be released on September 25 simultaneously on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. This project looks like the closest return to the original series of the game, but with a completely new cultural and aesthetic angle.

EA Sports FC 26 (FIFA 26)

Date: September 26

Genre: football simulator

Platforms: PS5/PS4, Xbox Series/One, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, PC

This year’s version of FC 26 will clearly distinguish between online and offline modes. In online matches, Competitive Gameplay will be available, making the game faster and more dynamic. Instead, for Career mode and offline matches, the developers have implemented Authentic Gameplay, which provides a slower pace, realistic collisions, and smarter defense. Clubs mode will feature several new features: players will now be able to choose one of 13 archetypes – special roles with unique Signature PlayStyles. In addition, there will be seasonal Clubs Rush events with special rules.

Crossplay is supported between platforms of the same generation. This means that, for example, players on PlayStation 5 can play with Xbox Series X users, but not with those who play on previous generation devices.

The global release is on September 26, and the Ultimate Edition gives up to 7 days of early access from September 19, plus some bonuses.

Our September releases section has come to an end, but the real fall is just beginning. We’ll see you in the October review with no less interesting video games…
