The world is changing. We should not be surprised by the devices that appear on the market. Each of them is unique and inimitable, aimed at satisfying the most demanding user. Perhaps in the near future, the usual e-readers will be replaced by other, more futuristic and interesting ones.
Sol is a technology company that creates reading tools that are different in form and function. The company’s employees rethink the reading process to create an atmosphere of complete immersion in the plot of the chosen book.
Not so long ago, this summer, the startup Sol released one of the most interesting and strange devices of recent times. It was named Sol Reader.
How does this gadget differ from thousands of others?
Most of us are used to a simple, tablet-like format of readers, but we won’t see it here, because the developers went much further and gave the device the shape of glasses. Sol Reader looks like VR glasses that work in close connection with an iOS or Android smartphone.
The text is divided into two screens that are equipped with E-Ink technology. This is done through a built-in special program. It should be noted that peripheral vision is preserved, meaning that the reader owner can see everything that is happening on each side and not be distracted for a long time from a particular document or book.
This device is equipped with two 1.3-inch displays with built-in backlight that can display 65 thousand pixels.
The user can independently control the brightness of the LED backlight and adjust it according to their needs. This process is done manually, not automatically. For comfortable use of the gadget, the developers have added a sensor to adjust to the ambient light as needed.
One of the interesting and useful features of the Sol Reader is the ability to customize the diopter range for each screen, so it has become a solution to the problem of users with poor eyesight, as they do not need to wear lenses or glasses to read while using the reader.
The device is also equipped with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules, and the charge lasts for 25 hours.
The main advantages highlighted by the company:
- Deep focus. The effect is similar to noise reduction, but only for your eyes. Full focus on information thanks to the warmth and texture of e-ink.
- Complete comfort. This is the world’s first wearable e-book. To give the reader new impressions and experiences. No more straining your neck while lying in bed or looking for better lighting.
- Library. If you have a library of e-books that are free of DRM, you can upload them to Sol Reader through a special application from Sol and enjoy your favorite works. You can also access informational, scientific, and entertainment articles that you have bookmarked.
