Humanoid robot APOLLO

Apptronik has devoted the last 7-8 years of its existence and work to the development of humanoid robots and exoskeletons.

Jeff Cardenas said that they believe that Apollo is one of the most advanced tools that have been created by mankind. Its use can dramatically change the working conditions and lifestyle of everyone on the planet.

This is quite a bold statement, as there are many interesting and promising developments in this area. So what is so interesting about this device that makes it so unique?

The Apollo robot immediately stood out from the rest of the company’s innovations because it was focused on commercial life.

The humanoid robot Apollo is 1.7 meters high and weighs 73 kg, and its payload is impressive at 25 kg. The device is powered by a rechargeable battery, which allows it to work continuously for up to 4 hours. Today, the company has two robots of this type in its arsenal and four more are under development.

The scientists who came up with the idea of Apollo believe that the appearance of the device should evoke positive emotions from the people who work with it. To simulate facial expressions and demonstrate the robot’s operating modes, a screen on E Ink electronic ink is placed on the robot’s face (in place of a human mouth). An informative OLED screen is placed on the robot’s chest. The humanoid’s eyes are circled by circles that change their color – red, green, etc.

The shape and size of Apollo’s body are similar to humans. This allows it to navigate well in space and use tools and other equipment, as well as perform complex tasks that other types of robots cannot. It is worth noting that Apollo’s ability to lift heavy objects reduces the risk of physical overload and injuries in the workplace. It can manage the unloading of trailers, allowing other employees to focus on other tasks. Unlike other robots that can perform only one process, Apollo can distribute its attention between different tasks depending on the need for its intervention.

The robot will primarily work in the logistics sector and in industries specializing in various types of material processing.

However, Apptronik claims that their humanoid has great potential and can help people in other areas, such as:

  • construction;
  • gas and oil processing;
  • energy;
  • trade;
  • delivery;
  • care for the elderly.

It also became known that NASA is very interested in the potential adaptation of this robot for use in space, as it can be a good assistant to astronauts living and working on orbital stations, the surface of the Moon and Mars, as well as act as remote avatars for human operators from Earth.

Thus, the Apollo humanoid robot can become a good assistant in solving complex production issues, while harmoniously interacting with people during the work process.
