Estimated stages of Web 4.0/Neural Network development

In the world of Internet technologies, stages of development often indicate key changes in the way we communicate, interact, and access information. From the simple textual interface of Web 1.0, to dynamic web applications within Web 2.0, to the semantic and connected web in Web 3.0, we are witnessing rapid evolutionary development. But what will be the next stage – Web 4.0, or as it is sometimes called “Neuronet”? We propose to consider the expected stages of its development. To begin with, let’s try to dive into the first stage, which ranges from 2015 to 2020.

A look at the first stage of development (2015-2020)

Conceptual framework:

Before talking about specific technologies and changes, it is important to understand the basic idea of Web 4.0. It was presented as an “intelligent” web, where machines can “understand” and “sense” the user’s needs, offering information or services even before they are found on request.

Connectedness and understanding:

One of the key features of this period is the development of systems that can interpret and analyze data in real time, adapting to the needs of the user. This means that websites and apps try to predict your needs based on your browsing history, feedback, and other data sources.

Integration with reality:

During this period, we also saw the rapid development of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technologies. These technologies are beginning to be used not only in games or entertainment, but also in such areas as education, medicine, and business. The Internet is becoming more “live” and interaction with it is becoming more immersive.

Early Adaptation of Artificial Intelligence:

For the first time, Web 4.0 introduces artificial intelligence not only as a concept or tool for data analysis, but also as an active participant in user interaction. The first personal assistants, such as Siri, Alexa, or Google Assistant, are beginning to appear and integrate into people’s daily lives.

Security and Privacy:

As the web becomes more intelligent and adaptable, the issue of data security and privacy becomes more and more relevant. Therefore, this period also witnessed the active implementation of new mechanisms for the protection and regulation of digital rights.

The first stage of Web 4.0 development was very important, because it was then that the foundations were laid for the further development of the “intelligent” Internet. It points to a trend toward a more personal, intuitive, and connected Internet that will continue to adapt and evolve in response to user needs.

A look at the second stage of development (2020-2030)

The Internet as we know it continues to transform. After we were introduced to the concept of the “intelligent” web in the first phase of Web 4.0 development, the next decade, which began in 2020, will bring us even more innovations. Let’s take an in-depth look at the main trends of the second stage of development.

Decentralization:

In 2020-2030, decentralized technologies such as blockchain will become dominant in the Internet sphere. This will enable the creation of decentralized applications (DApps) and decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs). These innovations will give users more control over their data and digital assets.

Personal AI assistants:

While the first stage saw the beginning of the development of personal assistants, the second stage will see them become an integral part of our lives. They will improve, become more adaptive, able to anticipate user needs, and even imitate human emotions.

Semantic web and contextual search:

Search engines will move from keywords to understanding the semantics and context of queries. This means that search results will become more relevant, taking into account the individual context of each user.

The world’s virtual space:

With the growth of VR and AR technologies, a new digital “universe” will be created where users will be able to interact not only with digital content but also with other users in real time. These spaces will become a place for work, study, entertainment, and socialization.

Ethics and regulation of AI:

As the capabilities of artificial intelligence grow, new ethical standards and regulation will be needed. Privacy, security, and data rights are becoming central to discussions on this topic.

The second phase of Web 4.0 development, which has already begun in 2020, will bring radical changes in the way we perceive and interact with the Internet. From decentralization to new forms of virtual reality, we are witnessing the transformation of the web into a more intelligent, personal, and immersive space.
