Beeper is an amazing, versatile messenger

The messenger development project started back in 2018 and was in beta testing for five years before its release.

With this application, users could connect to 15 different messaging services.

One of the most important features of this app is that it combines most of the platforms popular among users for communication and sharing various information.

If you think about it, Beeper is a kind of hub for messengers that unites 15 different messengers, except for iMessage.

Beeper supports the following applications:

  • Whatsapp
  • Facebook Messenger
  • iMessage
  • Android Messages (SMS)
  • Telegram
  • Twitter
  • Slack
  • Hangouts
  • Instagram
  • Skype
  • IRC
  • Matrix
  • Discord
  • Signal
  • Beeper network

Beeper works on such platforms as:

  • macOS,
  • Windows,
  • Linux,
  • iOS

History of creation

While the idea for the app came in 2018, it was created in 2020. Eric Migicowski, Brad Murray, and Tulirum Asokan worked on the idea.

When the specialists completed their work, the company decided to rename the relationship with Beeper to Beeper Cloud. This follows the release of Beeper Mini in December 2023.

However, this name did not last long, and in 2024, the app was returned to the name Beeper.

It is known that the method of creating an account may differ from the messengers you need to communicate. Some require only your phone number, while others require you to go to the application settings and manually add a new device.

When everything is set up, all your chats from all synchronized messengers appear on the Beeper home page.

You can add only one account for each service in Beeper. For example, users will not be able to add two accounts from Telegram.

The developers have also completely redesigned the application’s architecture to increase its speed and performance. They replaced the old Matrix Android library with mautrix-go, which is an open source library. The next part of the program is based on Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.

New features of the Beeper app:

  • chats are cached locally on your device;
  • users can search across all connected platforms;
  • the ability to create new chats from the mobile app;
  • new topics have been added to the attention of people: Black OLED and Material You;
  • support for a two-channel screen on tablets and foldable devices is enabled;
  • A QR code for setting up access from other applications is also included in the application.

In addition to these features, the developers plan to improve a number of functions in the near future:

  • delete chats that are unnecessary or outdated;
  • develop a context menu for pinned chats;
  • make it possible to view a list of people who have responded to your message;
  • add the function of scheduled message sending to other users.

So, the developers remind all users that the new Beeper is in beta and ask them to let everyone know about any problems they encounter while using the app to take into account all the suggestions and make the messenger extremely useful.
