What is Ai Pin

What devices do you think might try to replace our smartphones in the near future? In this article, we will introduce you to an unusual device called “Ai Pin” by Humane.

This is a highly innovative gadget that represents a significant leap forward in the integration of artificial intelligence into everyday life. Officially introduced by the Humane startup, Ai Pin is a square device with a camera, a miniature projector, a microphone, and a speaker. Designed to be magnetically attached to clothing and other surfaces, it weighs approximately 34 g, and the battery module adds another 20 g.

This device aims to replace traditional smartphones by providing a screenless interface that relies almost entirely on artificial intelligence to interact with the user. Notable features include the ability to recognize gestures using a camera and project information onto surfaces such as the user’s palm. The mini projector in Ai Pin is a critical feature. It allows you to use a screenless display, projecting information in different environments. This feature has the potential to redefine how users interact with their devices, moving away from traditional on-screen interfaces. This innovative approach emphasizes Humane’s vision of integrating AI into everyday life in a more natural and less intrusive way. Ai Pin, of course, has a voice control function. Users manually initiate voice interaction by sliding their finger across the touch panel. The device also has an indicator light that flashes while you listen to indicate that data is being collected.

The Ai Pin virtual assistant is designed as a highly advanced gadget capable of composing messages according to the tone of the user’s voice, offering a “Catch Me Up” function to summarize emails and news. It can also take photos, use computer vision to scan objects, and translate languages with the user’s voice.

All of this runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip running Humane’s Cosmos operating system, which connects queries to various artificial intelligence models based on technologies from Microsoft and OpenAI. The price of the gadget is $699, with a monthly subscription fee of $24 for a T-Mobile data package and phone number. Deliveries are expected to begin in early 2024, and it will initially be available only in the United States.
