List of the most anticipated video games of 2025

This year will be quite rich in bright new releases and continuation of well-known franchises. Game studios are already actively preparing to surprise us with interesting plots, improved graphics, and a new approach to gameplay with artificial intelligence technologies. In this article, TechnoVisor has prepared for you a real guide to the most anticipated games of 2025, of completely different genres – from long-awaited blockbusters to simply interesting indie projects.

Sid Meier’s Civilization VII (Civilization 7)

Release date: February 11 (the release has already taken place the other day)

What we know: The next sequel to the cult turn-based strategy game from Sid Meier brings with it an expanded choice of leaders, improved diplomacy, and a deeper system of state management. The developers promise to emphasize the interaction of civilizations, so the game will feature new ways to influence neighbors and expanded trade mechanics. We also expect an improved system of the “golden age” and “stagnation” similar to the one in the previous installments.

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage

Release date: part one will be released on February 18, part two on April 15.

Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox, PC

What we know: This story from the creators of Life is Strange tells the story of four high school students who formed a punk band. The usual teenage life changes completely after a mysterious event, and the characters face complex moral dilemmas. The main emphasis is on a non-linear plot: every decision you make will have consequences for the development of relationships between the characters.

Monster Hunter Wilds

Release date: February 28

That’s what we’re going to get: The Monster Hunter series has long been known for its vast open locations and large-scale monster battles. In the new installment, we are promised to be amazed by even larger areas with dynamic weather changes and a diverse landscape. In addition, Capcom will add new mechanics for joint attacks and crafting. Players will be able to build temporary camps and form “expeditions” with their friends.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Release date: March 20

Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC

What we know: The fourteenth official part of the franchise takes us to feudal Japan of the 16th century. It is interesting that players will be able to choose between two different characters: a ninja assassin or a samurai, each of which has unique skills. The developers claim that as a result, we will get a realistic depiction of Japanese landscapes and a large-scale open world where you can complete side quests and find artifacts from the Shogunate period during research.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered

Release date: April 3

What we know: The Radio Times confirms that the remaster is adapted specifically for modern PC configurations. Improved graphics, support for ultra-high resolutions, and an updated lighting system should make the game world even more “terrifying” and exciting at the same time. Fans of the series will actually be able to see the familiar story through a new technical prism.

P.S A brief note on game remasters is an updated version of a long-existing game that has simply received improvements in graphics, sound, and some other technical aspects. The main goal is to make an old game more attractive to a modern audience, while preserving its original essence and charm.

inZOI

Release date: March 28

Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S

What we know: Krafton, a studio known for its work on PUBG, has taken on a more “peaceful” project – a simulator of everyday life (something like The Sims). Players will control ZOI characters, develop cities, houses, and even choose the style of clothing for virtual residents. Powered by Unreal Engine 5, the game should impress with realistic graphics and in-depth world simulation.

Games without an exact release date, but scheduled for 2025

Grand Theft Auto VI

Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox (and the version for computers will probably be released in six months to a year after the release on existing platforms)

What we know so far: A new masterpiece from Rockstar Games that has gathered numerous rumors even before the official announcement. The main place of action is Vice City, a legendary city with a focus on neon and tropical locations. The plot revolves around two characters, Lucia and Jason, whose stories are closely intertwined. Old familiar mechanics are expected to return, including a large-scale open world model where you can do almost anything: from robberies to buying real estate and starting a business.

Much attention is paid to game physics and environment detail. Rockstar is very well known for the careful creation of interactive spaces, so fans assume that each Vice City neighborhood will have a unique flavor, local NPCs with their own schedule and behavior. The only question is: when exactly will the game be released? There is no exact date yet, but rumors hint at the end of 2025 or the beginning of 2026. Currently, it is the most anticipated game of all those that have already been released or will be released in the future. Split Fiction

What is known: The project is still shrouded in secrecy. According to preliminary information, the developers aim to implement a unique narrative approach, when the story can branch out depending on the player’s choice even more dramatically than in most story-based games. We can only wait for official details.

DOOM: The Dark Ages

Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox, PC

What we know: The developers of the DOOM series decided to take a risk and transfer the brutal destruction of demons to the Middle Ages. Fans assume that we can expect bizarre interpretations of weapons, including magical artifacts. The Guardian notes that everything will take place in gloomy castles and gothic cities with numerous secrets.

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach

Platforms: PlayStation 5

What we know: Hideo Kojima will once again immerse players in a surreal journey through a post-apocalyptic world. The protagonist Sam Bridges will have new tools for interacting with the world and there will probably be multiplayer elements based on the collective contribution of players to the restoration of the destroyed civilization.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: Directive 8020

Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S

What we know: Supermassive Games will showcase a space setting and new forms of horror this time. The crew of the spacecraft faces an unexplained threat, and, as in the previous games in the series, your wrong decisions can lead to the death of one or more characters – all of which will affect the further development of the plot.

What we know: The relaunch of the cult RPG that once set the trend for humorous reinterpretation of fantasy. According to The Guardian, the developers aim to preserve the classic atmosphere of the British fairy tale while offering more modern mechanics and combat system.

Gothic 1 Remake

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S

What we know: The legendary German RPG is back with updated graphics and modern controls. Fans of the old school hope that the creators will preserve the gloomy and tough atmosphere of the original, while fixing some technical flaws.

Ghost of Yōtei

What we know: The game will showcase events that take place 300 years after Ghost of Tsushima. The protagonist Atsu will face new threats on the Japanese islands, but keeping the spirit of samurai honor and the art of quiet, unnoticeable killing.

Little Nightmares III

What we know: The world of children’s horror is coming back even more eerie. Players will once again plunge into a series of terrifying locations full of bizarre creatures and mysteries. The third part should expand cooperative elements and provide more opportunities to interact with the environment.

Mafia: The Old Country

What we know: The Mafia series returns to its roots on the island of Sicily in the early 20th century. The player in the role of a young mafioso Enzo Favara will climb the criminal hierarchy, facing family intrigues, clan confrontations, and life choices.

The Sinking City 2

What’s known: The sequel to the Lovecraftian detective horror. The submerged city once again hides ominous secrets, and players will have to uncover them by solving puzzles and fighting otherworldly forces. By the way, the game is being developed by our Ukrainian studio Frogwares.

FBC: Firebreak

What we know: A new game from Remedy Entertainment, a studio known for the Max Payne and Alan Wake series. It is said to be a mix of action and psychological thriller. The company wants to expand the Control universe and provide fans with even more intriguing storylines.
